Hi, I'm Carol, or “Rainbow lady” as a few people here know me (not my fault, I can't make up my mind what colour my hair should be). I came here to this wonderful place to live in 2005 to retire, as we always wanted to come to the sun, which we have lots of! Also because of the very friendly people and it's close to UK if the family needed us. I came for the first 18 months on my own, then my husband took early retirement through ill health and joined me for 7 years before he died. My two children knew I would never go back to the UK as I love my life here. Now I'm on my own again and loving everything about the Algarve. I love to explore the area and hope I can share some of my experiences with you…It maybe a place to eat or somewhere to visit with the family, there is just such a choice here!
So here we go with my first Algarve Amigos blog...
Well it's Thursday, that means one thing when you live here and are retired, it's the weekend (Ok I know it's supposed to be Friday but you have to have some perks when you’re older). For me it's a trip to Lagos Marina for some music, a couple of glasses of coke (seriously) and a catch up with friends. The one thing I love about living here is that it doesn't matter what nationality you are, music brings us all together!
Tonight I popped into Lazy Jacks for some jazz with Roger and friends; it's so nice to see the holidaymakers are still around and enjoying our sunshine and sunsets. The marina is a magical and a safe place at night, there are plenty of people around and the bars are busy.
And the best thing is you can take the kids and the grandparents, you can eat and the choice is yours of what you want to eat (there are lots of great places) or you can just have a drink or two…or…three and look at the amazing yachts.
In my case I just love people watching, I have this wonderful imagination and these people I'm watching have wonderful lives from millionaires to film stars, well in my mind they do, and best of all, it costs nothing to dream!
There are lots of bars in Lagos where you can go and listen to live music, so give it a go and let your hair down and enjoy this beautiful place!
